Kelly Frey

Kelly is a sixth generation born and raised Coloradoan who spends the majority of her days exploring the Rocky Mountains. She never hesitates to get her hands dirty, and from a very young age developed a passion for creating, exploring, playing in the elements, and attempting to master every outdoor sport available out her front door.

With a continual pursuit of balance and a keen awareness of her feet grounded on Earth is how Kelly lives her daily life as a mama to two young boys, an entrepreneur, avid traveler, and adventurer seeker.

Kelly spent countless hours as a child hanging out in the first aid room at the local ski mountain with her ski patroller father and in high school she joined the junior ski patrol where she was trained to take care of the skiing and snowboarding community.  She attributes much of her responsible nature, excellent communication skills, and problem solving abilities to her days as a ski patroller and feels lucky to have had such a great opportunity at such a young age.

Through Kelly’s mentorship and patience, at the wee age of one and half, both Kelly’s children had already started learning outdoor adventure sports.  Today she spends the majority of days with her husband, two year old, and five year old on the ski slopes, mountain bike trails, around a campfire, and everywhere in between where adventure and connection can be found.

Kelly holds a B.A. in Environmental Sociology from the University of Colorado and an M.A. in Environmental Leadership from the Buddhist inspired Naropa University in Boulder, CO.  A higher education journey focused on connection and functionality of self, community, society, and the greater ecosystem.  Kelly has found personal and professional purpose in creating sustainable systems amongst these overlapping spheres.

Her professional experiences are dynamic, diverse, and span many different industries. Through her years of study Kelly worked at her family’s hardware store, McGuckin Hardware as well as a local coffee shop.  Her work ethic is strong and her passion for business development and management were formed through these early years of being engulfed in purpose driven small businesses.  After earning her M.A. Kelly left Colorado for the first time and landed in Northern California where she was a key player in the startup of a thriving coffee company, Acre Coffee.  She perfected not only how to make an unbeatable cortado, but also built out four brick and mortar locations, managed a cohesive team, and built out all company wide operating systems.  It was through Acre, where she was mentored by the talented entrepreneur founder on turning dreams into reality through business startup.

Returning to Colorado in 2016 following the birth of her first child, Kelly sought the Colorado outdoor lifestyle she missed and loved.  With her intentions set on building a life where she can work for herself, play outside as much as possible, and raise her two boys, she followed the entrepreneur path.

Kelly has woven together her experience with creating high performance systems, made to evolve and sustain, to every facet of her life, both in leadership roles within her professional career and at home with her family.

Kelly is an attuned, communicative parent to her children where she strives to teach them with empathy and consistency how to connect into the social/emotional sphere, be their unique self, and be aware and attentive to what's happening around them in their communities and ecosystem.  Her children offer her daily reminders of the need to stay present and to always hold onto that whimsical, magical childlike worldview throughout her daily life.
